Simplicity

The only simplicity to be trusted is the simplicity to be found on the far side of complexity.


(Richard John Neuhaus, in Death on a Friday Afternoon, tells us that Alfred North Whitehead said this. I'll have more on this remarkable book in days to come, but this thought struck me forcefully today.)
