"As kingfishers catch fire, dragonflies draw flame; / [ . . . ] Each mortal thing does one thing and the same: / Deals out that being indoors each one dwells; / Selves -- goes itself; 'myself' it speaks and spells, / Crying 'What I do is me; for that I came'." --Gerard Manley Hopkins

It's All About You

Cindy posted this over at Quotidian Light, and since I took the bait, I have to put it here. :)

Leave your name and...

1. I'll respond with something random about you.

2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.

3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in.

4. I'll try to say something that only makes sense to you and me.

5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.

6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.

7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST.

Okay, I'll be your first customer because you deserve someone to ring the bell on your blog-counter. :)

Teri:

1. You prefer daisies to roses.

2. I'm not much into songs and movies, but books -- so Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice.

3. Apple, definitely!

4. I'll have to beg off this one, since we only know each other on the weblogs, so everybody else knows the same things I do!

5. When you visited Inscapes and your encouraging response made me want to visit in turn. And how many times since you've had just the words I needed. NOt something I really believed would happen in this venue.

6.Beaver -- busily to the purpose of building your home

7. What is it that you and your daughter most enjoy doing together?

Beth Impson said...

LuCindy -- I knew you'd come by!

1. Luscious red hair against a green cape.

2. Character from literature: Portia from Merchant of Venice. Definitely Portia.

3. Blueberry. Yum!

4. Commas are good.

5. First of course is the writing center interview, but clearest is later: you and Malynda talking, you at the desk, M. standing beside you. M. posing a question and talking through it while you ignored her, doodling on scratch paper, till you looked at each other at the same moment and said simultaneously, "Here's what I think."

6. leopardess: definitely a wild side, depths that will always be a mystery, a bit restless, but still content to care for your home, which is warm and safe for both family and friends, and heaven help anyone who tries to bring harm into it!

7. When do you *see* the things you *show* us in your poems? Do your eyes ever just pass over the world as mine do, or do you always see things the way I always narrate events?

I am touched and befuddled. :)

1. Red hair? Who stole my cloak and wore it when I wasn't looking?
2. I have never read Merchant of Venice. Guess what just moved to the top of the reading list?
5. Quintessential E/I differences.
6. Scott chose this animal, too, although he wrote "jaguar" because he couldn't spell "leopard" when he posted. Odd. Shall have to ponder.
7. Oh, this is going to take some pondering. I'll have to get back to it.

Thank you very kindly!

LuCindy -- it's random, remember? :) I know you don't have red hair -- but I see you in that cape with red hair. Who can say how the mind works?!

Can't believe you haven't read Merchant! You will LOVE Portia. It is most distinctly a compliment, and one I think you will fully appreciate.

You are most welcome!

Blessings,

Beth

Cool and thanks! The beaver analogy is quite funny, because next to my bionic beaver hubby, I'm just a waddler of some sort.
Not sure about the daises to roses. I'm a flower lover -- saw some amazing roses in Switzerland that I burned my film on. Eliz Bennett, okay.. thank you for not giving me some convulted character, like a feminine Raskolnikov which I sometimes feel like (absent the murder you know). My daughter and I like to travel or shop together. I'd rather hike or something but she's not much of an outdoorsy kid, so we shop. We used to do crafts a lot together. The teen years have pickpocketed some of our fun, I feel.
Am I obligated to do something now?

Hi, Teri. I made a stab at the flower thing because of "fieldfleur" -- thought you might like wildflowers best! Teen years are tough, but they will pass, and you will enjoy each other all the more for having gone through them.

Now you get to post the meme on your own blog and see who comes by.

And, by the way, you have my greatest sympathies concerning your post this morning. Ack! Though LuCindy certainly did a great job of literizing it. :) (Yes, everybody, I know that's not a word. I just made it up because it's too early in the morning to try to write.)

Blessings,

Beth

Oh yeah -- daisies => fieldfleur; I forgot about that dumb thing!

"The Merchant of Venice" just came out on DVD for Cindy. Portia's portrayed well, methinks.

Thank you for your sympathy re last post! I'm so glad it's becoming literized with Cindy's help!! :)

Have an awesome weekend,
T

Literizing: to transform into literature.

There. It's a word now. Isn't poetic license great? :D

Merchant of Venice on DVD, eh? How IN-ter-es-ting...
