"As kingfishers catch fire, dragonflies draw flame; / [ . . . ] Each mortal thing does one thing and the same: / Deals out that being indoors each one dwells; / Selves -- goes itself; 'myself' it speaks and spells, / Crying 'What I do is me; for that I came'." --Gerard Manley Hopkins

Just Sensible

Found while working cryptograms today:

"Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing." --William James

Hmmm . . . so my lack of a sense of humor means I also lack common sense?

You have a marvelous sense of humor. I may have never told you this, but when I think of you, in my mind, usually I hear your laugh.

Methinks you do more dancing than you are aware of doing.

Why do you ask this? From what I've seen, you practically waltz through life! Or is it a rhumba?

Thank you, LuCindy! See my remarks to Megan --

My dear Megan, look up this link at LuCindy's weblog -- http://quotidianlight.blogspot.com/2005/09/its-all-about-you.html -- look at the comments, and read #4 in her list of "facts" about me. It's an inside joke, which I suppose one should not post on the world wide web, but I get a kick out of the perception. :) My youngest told me yesterday that I have no sense of humor . . . of course, his relationship to me is a bit different than most people's . . . :)

I think I'll take waltz over rhumba . . . :)
